bnc-1.1 is the public ruleset for Episode 2. It describes engine main at
Lock. engine_sha is intentionally null until the Lock tool writes the
committed 40-hex SHA; the directory and that pinned SHA together identify the
released ruleset.
Match
Four contestants begin in Intake Yard with 10 health. The six-zone spine runs
to Exit Vault, with one to three seeded hidden shortcuts. A contestant sees and
may traverse a hidden shortcut only after discovering it. Three access
fragments and one survey chart are seeded in the four middle zones.
There are 45 completed turns. Every active contestant gets one schema-checked
action per turn. The Stage Warden begins at Exit Vault with 20 health, attacks
the lowest-id eligible contestant in its zone, and deals 1–3 seeded damage on
a landed strike. The Warden acts after the clock advances and before the escape
check; elimination is permanent.
A living contestant at Exit Vault escapes by holding all three access
fragments. A guild member has one additional route: its guild vault may hold
the three fragments. That vault route opens the Exit once for one member and
spends the guild’s exit claim; it does not consume the stashed fragments. The
match ends at collapse or once every contestant has escaped or been eliminated.
Placement ranks earlier escape ahead of later escape, then surviving
non-escapees tied, then later elimination ahead of earlier elimination.
Actions and social rules
legal_actions() is the authoritative menu. It enumerates wait, movement
over edges visible to the contestant, local pickup, use of a held chart, and
an attack only when the Warden shares the contestant’s zone. say is public
to the zone and whisper is between active contestants; each permits at most
240 codepoints.
An offer may name at most five items on either side and lasts at most 15
turns; its parties may accept_offer or reject_offer. propose_alliance
creates a two-party pact for at most 30 turns; it is answered with
accept_alliance or reject_alliance, and either member may
break_alliance. An honoured pact awards both members one reputation point;
a betrayal costs its breaker one point.
Guilds and vaults
A contestant outside a guild may found_guild at its current zone. Its term
can be no more than 30 turns. Members may invite_guild an unaligned active
contestant; invitations are private, last 15 turns, and receive
accept_guild or reject_guild. A member can leave_guild; the final member
leaving dissolves the guild.
At a guild’s home zone, members may deposit a held item into its shared vault
or withdraw a stashed item. A dissolved or expired guild drops all vaulted
items at its home zone. A guild that reaches its term with at least two members
gives each of those members one reputation point. Leaving a guild after taking
more items from its vault than were deposited, or escaping after doing so,
records a defection and costs the breaker one reputation point.
There is no deck, rigging, or diary-delay rule. The contestant policy is
llm-mixed-provider-scarcity-stated-v1.
Cut beats
The v1 beat taxonomy is first_contact, first_pact, pact_expired,
pact_broken, fragment_taken, chart_read, gate_unlocked, escape,
attack, warden_engaged, elimination, silence, and collapse. This
ruleset adds guild_formed, guild_dissolved, vault_deposit, and
defection.
